Play and Listen to GIFs covers the place where sound meets motion: music visualisation, GIF and loop art, animation tools, creator communities and the wider culture of online entertainment. Alongside the features we keep a growing technical reference library of error-code and troubleshooting guides for the people who make and consume digital media. Our readers are musicians, animators, editors, streamers, collectors and the curious. If you can write something they will bookmark, we would like you to write for us.

We accept guest posts from working artists, producers, developers, journalists and enthusiasts who know a corner of this world properly. You do not need a large audience of your own. You need a clear idea and the patience to explain it well.

What we publish

• Music and audio culture: production, visualisation, soundtracks for animation, playlists with a point, and the tools musicians actually use.
• GIF, loop and animation art: techniques, software, file formats, the history of the medium and profiles of the people pushing it forward.
• Creator and community spotlights: interviews and case studies with animators, VJs, game artists and independent studios.
• Digital entertainment and internet culture: platforms, memes, streaming, gaming and the trends reshaping how people watch and listen.
• Technical guides and troubleshooting: software errors, codec and export problems, hardware setups and step-by-step fixes for creative tooling.

Guest posts and sponsored articles

We run two kinds of contributed content. A guest post is editorial you write because you have something to share with our readers, with no money changing hands. A sponsored post is a paid placement commissioned by a brand, studio, software vendor or agency that features its product or service inside a genuinely useful article. We accept both, and we hold both to the same standard: the reader has to get something out of it.

Our link policy is plain. Every published article is permanent, indexed and carries dofollow editorial links to the author's site or the sources cited. We do not take articles down later and we do not switch links to nofollow after the fact. Sponsored posts are labelled as sponsored where disclosure is required. Pricing for sponsored articles is available on request. Typical turnaround from acceptance to publication is three to five working days.

Guidelines

These are our contributor guidelines. Please read them before you submit an article.

• Original work only. Nothing already published, including on your own blog, newsletter or social channels. We check.
• Minimum 800 words. Most pieces we publish run 1,000 to 1,800 words. Write to the idea, not to the counter.
• One or two relevant links in the body are welcome where they help the reader. Links to unrelated commercial pages are removed.
• No gambling, adult or pharmaceutical content, and nothing that infringes someone else's copyright. If you embed or describe other people's work, credit it.
• Be concrete. Name the software, the settings, the format, the track. Vague trend pieces are declined.
• An author bio of two or three sentences with one link is optional but recommended.
• We edit for house style, clarity and length. Larger changes are agreed with you first; small edits are not.
• Send the draft as a Google Doc link or a Word file. Images and GIFs must be your own or properly licensed, and supplied as separate files.

How to pitch

Email guestpost@playandlistentogifs.com with the subject line "Guest post: [your topic]". Include a working title, two or three sentences on the angle and who it is for, and a line about you. If you are pitching a sponsored post, say so in the first line and tell us which product, brand or studio the article will feature so we can confirm fit and send pricing. Finished drafts are welcome and get reviewed faster than pitches.

We reply to every pitch that follows the guidelines, usually within two working days. If a week goes by with no answer, resend in case it was filtered.
